I often find myself fired up and anxious about getting everything on my to-do list done.
When I'm not teaching yoga I am continually in business woman mode: Updating the website, planning the next event/workshop, working on marketing materials for the upcoming events, responding to emails, updating the back end of MindBody (our management software system for the yoga studio), brainstorming with Russ about what to try next with getting the word about the bamboo bike frame building workshops, updating Quickbooks, paying bills, etc. The list truly goes on and on. One day last week I found myself in a strange place of excitement about the number of yogis that chose to practice with me that morning and feeling mentally overwhelmed and exhausted from all of the other stuff that goes into entrepreneurship. Thankfully my yoga mat called to me and I was able to peal myself away from the to-do list and land on my mat for an hour. I'm so grateful that I can always count on my mat to quiet my mind. The rest of the world melts away the moment I bring my focus to my breath and I set my intention. On this particular day there was no question what my intention for that practice was going to be- EASY. Seems a bit contradictory when practicing a style of yoga called Power Vinyasa. But it was quite an amazing experience. I danced through the flow one breath at a time, asking no more than my body wanted to give, but trusting the innate strength that was already there. I ended up having an incredible practice and moving further into several poses than I have ever before. I continued trying EASY into the rest of my day and it was amazing what all I was able to get done. Staying with EASY is a habit I'm creating one breath and moment at a time. |
