The Eight Limbs of Yoga Online Workshop Series
Practices/guidelines for living a healthy, compassionate, lively, wise and joyful life.
In the U.S. it is commonly thought that yoga is an exercise practice that we do on a yoga mat for 60 minutes a few times a week. In reality it is a way of living and being in the world that also includes conscious movement/asana.
You’re invited to learn more about the eight limbs of yoga in this 10 session workshop series. There will be about 45 minutes of movement/asana practice and 45 minutes that will include lecture/discussion/meditation.
The Eight Limbs of Classical Yoga
Yamas – living in harmony with others
Niyamas – living in harmony with ourselves
Asana (postures) – living in harmony with our body
Pranayama – how to manage our energy
Pratyahara – how to manage our senses
Dharana – concentration
Dhyana – meditation
Samadhi – unity or the experience of connection
Each week’s lecture/discussion will have extra focus on a different Yama or Niyama.
